A Little About The Harper Farmhouse

“The true secret to happiness is to take a genuine interest in all the details of daily life.”

I am Lauren, a wife and mother of four who has found her place amongst the trees. I am a former professional business developer that left the corporate ladder for a slower, intentional life at home. For years I have dreamed of living the farm life and that vision has finally come true. I am going to share the successes, struggles, dos and don’ts, in real time, as we navigate this changing lifestyle from from modern suburban living to rural, sustainable homesteading.

One of the most important beliefs that I want to share is that homesteading is more than living on a farm; its a philosophy on life. I grew up with a passion for nature and animals, but I was often distracted. But over the years, I started making small changes to support a healthier mind, physical body, and soul.

Yes, I realize that sounds cliché, but I really don’t know how to explain it.

I didn’t know how to cook, bake, garden, raise children, live with a smaller footprint (aka sustainability), or think through a lens of skepticism-for-the-conventional.

I truly enjoyed starting as an urban homesteader, too. There is truly a limitless amount of changes you can make to support ethical living, home-cooking, positive thinking, gardening and child-rearing from wherever you’ve landed in life. Simply home-make with intention and keep the little details in mind whenever you can and learn as much as possible.

I can’t promise that I know it all, but I can promise I will tell you what I’ve done, how I’ve done it, and what worked (or did not work) for us. Join me on this charming adventure of life.
