Meet Luna

Having farm-fresh milk straight from the cow has been a driving force behind my desire to homestead on property. To say that owning a family milk cow has been a life-long dream is no understatement. From the moment we purchased the land, I started the hunt for the perfect lady.
Now, considering that she’s a heifer, meaning that she’s never had a calf before, and that I’ve literally never milked a cow, let alone owned one, I can say with full confidence that Luna will be an absolute gem. She is exceptionally food motivated and friendly to nearly pest-proportions AND she’s pregnant! What could possibly go wrong?
Our Looney Lady is due sometime in April, right on schedule for our farmhouse to be complete and our family to be all moved it. Don’t worry, there won’t be much to do and I’ll definitely be 100% ready.
With any luck, the barn will be raised and I won’t have to milk in the field, either.
EDIT 4/4/2024 – Luna had her baby! The farmhouse isn’t quite ready, the barn certainly isn’t raised, I do milk in the field, BUT Luna is still a gem. Her little man is healthy and thriving and I’m so happy he’s here.
